Saki built the Ikigai on VG-10, a premium Japanese cutting steel, and finished it in rose gold so the warmth sits over a blade that earns its place. VG-10 takes a fine, durable edge, which is what carries the cut once the colour has had its moment. Two practical lengths, 5.5” and 6.0”, cover detail and general salon work. The rose gold is a hard plated surface, not a coat over the cutting line, so it wears with the steel.

“For the money, getting VG-10 under a rose gold finish is a strong proposition, and it handles club and point cutting with a clean, lasting edge. The 5.5” is a lovely detail size and the 6.0” covers most general work. The fair caveat is care: any plated pair rewards a dry wipe and the odd drop of oil, and skip that and any scissor dulls faster than it should. Give it that small attention and it stays sharp and bright.”
